Welcome to the Mattiverse

where do artists hang out online now?

I do apologise that this is more of a question than an actual blog post.

I've been getting back into my art and this has left me wanting to find and appreciate other artwork. I'm not exactly down with all the latest social sites and I'm definitely not familiar with anything indie-web or fediverse related.

So, where do all the artists (or creatives) hang out now?

The obvious choices are Instagram and Pinterest...

I do have (and use) a Pinterest account, but it is dominated by sponsored content, adverts and A.I. and I'm growing tired of trying to avoid the adverts and I can't get lost in an artists work when it's A.I.

Instagram is off the table, not only is it such a performative place now but the sheer amount of other nonsense that is on there is too much for me. I'm either overwhelmed or come away with a general feeling of disgust about the tactics that are now needed to be seen.

That's not to mention the advertising, A.I. and simple privacy concerns I have with Instagram (or rather Meta as a whole).

I appreciate that people need to go where the eyes are to be seen, but what I'm asking for is a place where artists hang out without playing for algorithms or performative posting to be seen.

Artists appreciating art - Perhaps I'm asking too much?

Any suggests?
