content creating conveyor belt
I'm suffering from content fatigue. Not only consuming but consistently feeling that whatever I write has a 'content' feel to it and while I have no issues with people wanting to produce content (for the most part), I feel slimy for doing it.
I enjoy writing, I want to be able to share the interesting things I learn and care about but I also want to be able to build something that allows me to get away from my 9-5 that isn't just another time for money role. Perhaps this means I have to go down the content route? But it's like the word itself is industrial in its use and I hate the thought of having no meaning other than posting for the sake of 'value'.
I know that sounds silly. I should want to post for value but I don't know anymore if I generally find 'content' valuable (hence the fatigue I suppose?). Perhaps the best I could put this is the saying "all good things in moderation", which when it comes to valuable content, moderation is practically a curse.
Despite all this content, I find it increasingly rare to find anyone with personality to their writing. Myself included. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places (or rather I'm being lazy in my search) as I'm sure that the sort of writing I want to read is out there.
I don't want this to be another complaint about content or it's usefulness, I'm aware it's useful, I'm aware that there's money to be made by pushing it out into the world. I suppose I'm disappointed that we'd rather have the soulless words of 'value' than a rich vein of thoughtful, deep writing that leads a lasting impression.
And that makes me sad.
