re: i don't know how to be creative

A response to Susu's Slice of Life.

I really wanted to send a reply via email, but couldn't find an email address, so I thought why not send a response via the blog.

It breaks my heart when people are going through blocks such as this. It's horrible when you want nothing more than to be creative, but you feel powerless to do anything.

I want to tell you that your entire blog is an expression of your creativity.

Even if you don't feel it is, you're sharing your thoughts, feelings, ideas and whatever is in your mind 1. You're creating something from nothing and sharing your voice with the world and not only is that creative, but it's courageous as well2.

In regards to what I believe are your thoughts that your only source of creativity is art from a drawing perspective, I wrote a post on something similar, which you can find here.

Where do you go from here? I'd say to continue building your creative courage in whatever form it needs to take. Yes, that may mean that you step away from art, it may mean you try other forms of creativity and it may mean you come back to drawing at a later point.

Creativity doesn't follow rules, it comes to us in all sorts of ways and all we can do is acknowledge it and enjoy the ride.

I hope you find your way back to your work and your creative voice.
