is it an absence of passion or a sense of freedom?
I recently stumbled on this video music performance from Jon Bellion.
I immediately got the warm, fuzzy feeling that happens when you see people who truly enjoy what they're doing. I genuinely wish I could find something that I enjoy doing as much as these performers are enjoying this.
I've always hated the quote "find something you love and you'll never work a day in your life". I think the trendy word for it now is 'obsession' - find your 'obsession' and monetise it.
I hate it because you can (and likely will) spend a lifetime trying to find that thing and for some people, they find what they love while working at something they originally didn't like (but do well at).
If I stop and think about it, it's the sense of freedom those people have, when I watch that video, the performers look free... Completely engrossed in the music, the performance and the enjoyment.
It's the same with anything that a person is truly passionate about, they have a sense of freedom and excitement about it that you can't fake.
It's hypnotic.
If I had a wish for 2026, it would be to find something that could consume me like that.
