Title:

Mindset

Author(s):

Carol S. Dweck

Initial thoughts & reason for reading:

This is a book that I had on my Amazon wish list for a long while and it recently came up in some management training I was involved with, so when I went to look for it on Amazon again and saw it was only 99p for the Kindle version, I decided to take the plunge and buy it.

Given my new station at work, leadership and mindset are now things that I'm actively thinking about and if this book can help push me along that path, I consider it money well spent.

Final thoughts once read:

I enjoyed this, but it did feel as though by the end it could have been a series of blog posts rather than a book.

There's only so many times the point of having a growth mindset could be reinforced, essentially having a growth mindset is to have a love of learning, to push past failures and understand that these can lead to growth providing you're willing to put in the time and effort.

The part around teachers and children doesn't really apply to me currently so I skimmed that chapter, which I don't normally do, but I did want to see if there was anything else to add, which it didn't seem like there was.

In summary then, I did enjoy this book and it was certainly better than the last book I read in which I thought it definitely should have been a blog post (Atomic Habits).
