Welcome to the Mattiverse

to delete or not to delete... Is that a question?

I never had any intention of having a theme or 'niche' when it came to blogging, it was a personal blog and I liked that fact. Over the last couple of days though, I'm realising that perhaps I'm slightly more vain than I'd like to admit and that my sharing of what is essentially nothing isn't what I actually like.

I want the freedom to post whatever I want, but that doesn't mean I have to do so.

It's led to me looking through old posts and wondering whether I should delete them1 and essentially 'start over' as it were.

If I think about what's causing this change, it's my thoughts around intention. Intention is a word I like to use on this blog because it's something that I lack, whether it's with things I purchase or my own dreams and goals.

Several of my posts have had no real intention other than to be posted and that's quite sad to think about. I have a voice worth sharing. Thoughts, feelings and ideas are all bursting to get out and instead I push them to one side and share the mundane2.

I'm coming to terms with the fact that nobody cares. Not in a bad way, it's a fact of life. We're all so consumed by our own lives, thoughts, feelings and ideas that spending any more time than absolutely necessary with someone else's life is a big deal.

I don't want to be abusing that privilege anymore.

It's not that I do this intentionally, I'm just lazy and that stops me from doing the required 'work' to produce something that isn't sharing something simple. That's a disservice to you and it's a disservice to the work I'm capable of producing.

  1. I did indeed delete some posts.

  2. I'm not against sharing mundane, providing it's intentional - I was doing it to simply share.
