Welcome to the Mattiverse

something worth sharing

I was reading 'We Are All Rankers Now: Or Why the Internet Has Turned to Shit' from the Grumpy Welshmen (which is a fantastic name btw) and the following stood out to me:

"...they wanted other people to be able to read it. There was no conversion path. There was no audience asset. There was just a person who thought something was worth sharing."

I think this is what I've been dancing around lately, the rise of digital advertising, social media and other online nonsense has meant that everything has to have an ulterior motive. Whether it's to sell something, promote something or simply a performance to make others jealous and I don't want to be part of it.

I also think it's the point of Grumpy Welshman's post, which is that some of us want to be "talkers" rather than "rankers".

I believe we all have something worth sharing and I'm determined to share what I find interesting, fun or even what I'm struggling with (which tends to come in the form of complaining about my job), even if I'm the only one who ends up seeing it.

More than that, I want to be able to see what you find interesting, fun and yes, even what you're struggling with. Especially if I can possible provide some help, support or comfort.

That's an internet worth having.
