you are your audience
It always feels a little cheesy to talk about how fast time is going and how this month has "flown by", and yet May seems to have disappeared in a blink.
I've had quite the productive month, having posted every single day since the second. Given that my previous 'streak' was when I first signed up to BearBlog back in June of last year, I'd say that's pretty cool.
It's also been a month where that consistency of posting whatever I've wanted has helped me in other areas of my life. I've found myself evaluating how I'm feeling about my career and whether I could adopt the same attitude of pushing what I want to be doing to the forefront.
It's what made me bring my art page back up and why I've been able to post a few new things on there, as well as made me start thinking about potential areas for me to explore that I could eventually start bringing into the blog in some form or fashion.
As I look towards June then, I'm reminded that freedom is something you take. You don't need to be 'allowed' to create whatever is in your head or your heart. Heck, you don't even need an audience to create it - you are your own audience.
That's been the biggest shift in my attitude, is that no matter what anyone says; you are always going to be stuck with yourself, so why not create the things you want to see, even if they are only for yourself.
I have a tendency to underestimate how much impact creativity has on my life and I'm willing to bet that it's the same for a lot of people. I know it can be tough, but pushing through the fear is worth it.
You owe it to yourself to create work that makes you fucking happy.
